OUR STATEMENT ON DIVERSITY, EQUITY, ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION
Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion (DEAI) are all interconnected.
The board, staff and volunteers at St. Mary’s Art Center welcomes visitors and artists of all races, ethnicities, native languages, ages, abilities, classes, educational backgrounds, genders, gender identities, sexual orientation and religions. We are wholly against racism, hate, and bullying of any kind and want visitors to experience the Art Center as a place of respect where they can come together and explore their creativity.

Biased or demeaning conduct or statements are the absolute opposite of our values and culture. We work hard to be a welcoming and inclusive place to enjoy art and our historic property. We continue to do our part to offer a safe, diverse, and inclusive location by taking the time to make meaningful connections and understand one another.

We set out to combine the practices that support the shape of individual talent with a culture that fosters inclusion and belonging. We stand in solidarity with Black, Indigenous and Persons of Color today and in the days, weeks, months and years to come. As an organization that exists to nurture and support artists and both strengthen and expand our cultural programs to continue to serve as a vibrant destination, we are taking the opportunity to further elevate and support the diverse backgrounds in and around Virginia City.

Through art, we often find that our differences are the source of our greatest strengths. We are committed to continuously broadening the scope of thought and perspectives within our organization and amplifying the voices of our diverse community.
