Paranormal

Are you interested in paranormal? Virginia City is a well documented and investigated hot spot of activity. While we focus primarily on our mission to support art and culture, we do offer three ways to experience paranormal activity and investigations.

Our exclusive partner, W.I.G.S. (Women Investigating Ghost Sightings), is a respected paranormal group who is passionately supportive of our art center. You may recognize Paula Burris, our lead tour guide and paranormal expert, from episodes of Ghost Adventures.

W.I.G.S. hosts two paranormal fundraisers for the art center each year. These are fantastic events that provide critical funding support for our programs and building restorations. These events are extremely limited in participant numbers to ensure a unique and intimate experience. Because of the focus to offer an authentic and interactive experience, the events sell out quickly. Experience this amazing 1876 property, formerly home to two hospitals. *We do not allow any paranormal investigation of our property at any time except through W.I.G.S.

Spring: Paranormal Painting Pajama Party

2018 Painting Contest Winner – Shannon Gish

This fun event combines the paranormal experience with art. W.I.G.S. leads the investigation while a professional and fun art instructor helps guide expressing the experience through art. The final art pieces are judged by the Executive Director and the winner receives a complimentary overnight stay at the next Paranormal Painting Pajama Party. It’s a blast!

Fall: Halloween Paranormal Investigation and Sleepover

There is no better time to experience paranormal activity than during Halloween when the veil is thin. Join W.I.G.S. as they lead overnight investigations and teach participants the ropes. Groups are kept intentionally small and limited to ensure an interactive experience for all.

Weekend Tours: Saturday & Sunday

The Way It Was Room – a peek inside of the building before restorations began

Our lead tour guide and paranormal partner, Ms. Paula Burris, gives tours each Saturday afternoon 12:30 – 4pm, and all day Sunday, during our open hours of 11-4pm. Paula happily gives multiple historical and art tours while adding a light paranormal investigation with dousing rods for those with paranormal curiosities.

* Note: we close the building for art retreats and private events, so please contact us in advance if this is a key part of your Virginia City planning.
