Art In Challenging Times: A Social Quilt & Sculpture Project

ALL Comstock kids from Virginia City, Gold Hill, Silver City, Mark Twain, Dayton up to Lockwood are invited to participate in this social art project! There are two ways to participate: create a 12″x12″ art piece on a sewable piece of fabric using any type of medium(s) that will hang well vertically (paint, pen, embroidery, mixed media, collage, etc.) and/or create a three dimensional sculpture using any type of medium(s) that are transportable and freestanding.

These are historical times worldwide and art is and always has been a critical cornerstone of documenting society, history and the artists’ own perspectives and feelings.

Our volunteers will sew the quilt panels together to create a collaborative and amazing piece of art that will be exhibiting alongside the dimensional sculptures in an exhibition at the art center. A fun reception will also be hosted for our communities and families to come witness the creative minds and moxie of our children. Join us in documenting this historical event through the eyes of our youth. Download the flyer through the link below the image. Questions? Contact us: aperry@stmarysartcenter.org or 775.847.7774
