Narrative Illustration … the workshop results

Posted by General in Art, Artist in Residence, News, Workshops

Stewart Easton ran a workshop for Narrative Illustration and Drawing on the 15th -17th July… the day began with some preliminary sketching to warm up hands and minds that had not drawn for some time …
Then Stewart gave us a story he had written 7 years ago … a tragic tale … “40 Years of Melancholy” a sweet and poignant story.
Each person in the workshop was given several pieces of the story to illustrate… and the work began …
Each person approached the project in an entirely different manner and here is where the learning process kicked in … Discussions were had about the characters, the development of the identities, the era and type of people they were …where they were in the world, etc… it was a very intensive drawing and learning time… at the end of the workshop Stewart offered a very insightful critique of the works and approaches …
It was utterly enjoyed by all !
