Navajo weaving workshop
Thursday to Sunday was Navajo weaving time at St Mary’s… Led by Marylin Elligot, many looms were set up in the upstairs studio with beautiful Virginia City natural light and views across the sugarloaf… and so the weavers set to work. Baskets of the most wonderful colored yarns were stashed about the room, and sketches of intended designs lay beside every loom.
There was a happy energetic buzz throughout the building during the whole workshop and there were many exchanges of ideas and techniques and tips in the Navajo tradition….
a really great weekend!
